  Making a Monster Truck

PROMT  Racing
Nazareth Speedway,
Nazareth, PA
September 16th &17th, 2000
Truxpo Truck TourProfessional Monster Trucks

On the weekend of the 16th & 17th September, Monster Truck racing came to the Nazareth Speedway for the very first time.
As part of the ProMT Points series, the line up consisted of 9 of the 10 Monster Trucks who had invited to come race.  These where Virginia Giant, Tonka, BIGFOOT, Sudden Impact, Nitro Fish, Tropical Thunder, Samson, Executioner & Equalizer.
Eradicator, Blown Thunder, Pure Adrenalin & on the Sunday only Carolina Crusher,  turned up to try & qualify for the 3 remaining positions, as only 9 invitational trucks had turned up.
Some of the trucks, such as Sudden Impact, BIGFOOT & Tonka had been in the area doing displays for local car dealerships & radio interviews. John Seasock in Sudden Impact had also been going to some of the local schools & giving talks to the children.

All of the trucks would make two qualifying runs. This would give them a chance to run on each lane.
First up to qualify was Diehl Wilson in the Virginia Giant & Eric Tack in the Tonka BIGFOOT.

With a hard landing, Virginia Giant seemed to be having suspension problems. Nothing Diehl couldn't fix, for his second qualifying run.

Next up to qualify was Dan Runte in BIGFOOT & Andy (Glow-stick) Slifko in Eradicator. The Eradicator Truck had the fastest reaction time in qualifying, on his second run. But Dan Runte in BIGFOOT had the fastest qualifying ime of the day.

Next up to qualify was Doug Cole in Blown Thunder & John Seasock in Sudden Impact. This would be the only qualifying run of Sudden Impact, as John hurt his knee in between qualifying & was unable to make his second run.

Next up was Tim Hall driving the Tropical Thunder truck, on behalf of Guy Wood,. And Dan Patrick in Samson.
As Guy Wood had sold the Tropical Thunder truck overseas, & his new truck which he is currently building, wasn't ready for the Nazareth show. So Tim Hall used one of the older Executioner trucks, with the Ice Man body & a Tropical Thunder sticker on the side. This way Guy Wood, would not lose any points in the series.

Mark Hall in Executioner & David Morris in Equalizer would then qualify next.

The last two trucks to qualify where Steve Macklyn in Nitro Fish & Randy Brown in Pure Adrenalin. Suspension problems for Pure Adrenalin led them to run their qualifying heat last.

All of the trucks made their two runs.  The table below shows the times which the trucks ran. It also shows which lane they ran in. Their reaction times from when the light turned green & their average speed over the course.
