The one hour drive from my home in Virginia, seemed to take an eternity.
When we arrived we where pleased to see seven of the countries finest monster
trucks where on hand to do battle at the U.S. Air Arena, in Landover, Maryland.
As we waited in line to enter the arena, I noticed an energy already
flowing through the crowd which was not at all dampened by the gloomy rainy
weather.
The gates opened at 1pm, with the event scheduled to start at 2pm.
After 20 minutes walking around the arena, we made our way to our seats
(which where awesome).
Soon after we sat down, the cyclist from the motor cycles came into
the arena for a few practice laps, soon followed by the Quads.
In the middle of the Arena, there where parked six of the seven
Monster Trucks, who where there to compete.
Monster Trucks parked up in the Arena
They where, American Guardian driven by Joe Badonas. Extreme Towasaurus
Wrex driven by Jeff Bursey. Bearfoot which was the Rampage truck, sporting
a Bearfoot body, was driven by Richard Patterson. Thrasher was driven by
Pat Suma. West Virginia Mountaineer was driven by Robbie Gray. Rambo was
driven by Mike Nitzke, & Devils Dodge was driven by Frank Fonte.
At 2pm, three riders from Indy Industries, came out to perform some
freestyle BMX. The crowd was in awe of these stunts.
After the playing of the National Anthem, the show officially began,
with the side by side Monster Truck qualifying to start.
