TRUCK NAME: BIGFOOT 9 / WCW Dungeon of Doom / WCW Hulkester
MAKE F-150 Ford pickup
OWNER: Bob Chandler
DRIVER: None
TOWN/CITY: St Louis, MO
ENGINE SIZE: 572 cubic inch Ford
INFORMATION: BIGFOOT 9, which was built in 1990, is a refinement
of the BIGFOOT 8 truck.
It made it's debut in Febuary 1990 in Ohio. In
1994 It toured England & Maylasia.
In 1995 the truck became a wrestletruck.
This was a featured event on WCW TV program Halloween Havoic & other WCW TV shows.
The
truck was modified to allow for the motor to run for over ten minutes as
the truck was going to be used for monster sumo wrestleing. This is where
two trucks would be hooked up nose to nose, & try & push the other
out of the ring. WCW also wanted customised bodies for the trucks, to represent
different wrestleing charcters. BIGFOOT 9 was given the Hulkster body.
In 1996 WCW wanted to put the Dungeon of Doom truck in some competion racing,
to get some more exposure. The truck entered with that body insome Penda Points Series races.
Even though the rules stated that only two trucks from one team may hadcompete,
the exception came when there where only 12 trucks available for racing. As the series consisted of 10 'invitational' trucks (those where the monster trucks
which where specifically asked to participate), any other monster truck was able to compete for up to two additional spots in the race (those where
refered to, as 'non-invitational'). Those non-invitational trucks had to qualify
to race, unlike invitationals, who where guaranteed a position in the first round of racing. So as the truck was only entered in a few Penda Points races, it only came 14th.
The truck currently sports a 1998 F-350 Superduty body.
In July 1998, I caught up with driver Rick Petroline, at the home of BIGFOOT, who was in the process of re-spraying the frame of BIGFOOT 9.
BIGFOOT 9 went to Brazil in 1998 for some promotional work, but after some problems with Customs the truck was inpounded, & has since gone missing.
