TRUCK NAME: BIGFOOT 14/ Power Wheels
MAKE: F-150 Ford pickup (built in 1993-94)
OWNER: Bob Chandler
DRIVER: Dan Runte
TOWN/CITY:St Louis, MO
ENGINE SIZE: 572 cubic inch Ford
INFORMATION: BIGFOOT 14 was first introduced into the racing circuit as the Power Wheels BIGFOOT. The truck was launched at the same time
as a Power Wheels batery ride on toy for children was released.
The truck
with it's distinctive colour scheme, of black & orange, yellow &
white flames around the side of the truck, gave it a look which made it stand out.
The truck driven by Dan Runte, entered the 1994 Penda Points Series
by being knocked out in the second round of each of the two days of racing.
But between that weekend of races and the next competion of the season,
the truck must have been setup right, as the truck went into the the next
race at Bloomsberg, by recording the fastest race time, & just missed
out on first place, against the Samson. But the truck made up for it the
next day by winning final race. The truck also lost out on winning the
94 Penda Points Championship, due to a burnt clutch in the second to last
race, which let BIGFOOT who was 200 points behind take the lead. Then in
the last race, the two BIGFOOT trucks met twice, with the Power Wheels
losing them both times. The truck still came second though. The truck also took
second in the USHRA Points Series in 1994.
In 1995, The Power
Wheels truck won the Penda Point Series Championship after winning
8 out of 15 races. The truck also was given a few added extra's by new ponsors Defelecta
Shields, who launched some BIGFOOT brand, light truck accessories, these
included a deflecta shield, a cab extender, & a sunvisor.
In 1996,
the number 14 truck went back to the traditional BIGFOOT blue colours.
Dan Runte went in to the 1996 Penda Points Series Championship by winning
the first eight straight races, out of thirteen. Giving him, his second,
Penda Points Series World Championship title.
In 1997 Dan was runner up in the Monster Truck Racing Points Series Championships, after he lead the series up until the final weekend.
