BIGFOOT
1

TRUCK NAME: BIGFOOT 1

MAKE: 1974 F250 Ford Pickup, modified beetween 1974-1982.

OWNER/DRIVER: Bob Chandler

TOWN/CITY:St Louis, MO

ENGINE SIZE:640cubic inch Ford

INFORMATION: BIGFOOT 1 was one of the first monster trucks to be built, and is probably one of the most famous truck in the world. This was the first truck to ever have front & rear steering. Bob got the idea for the rear steering when a friend told him about how the military wanted to have vehicles, where if the front axle broke, they could take the rear axle, (which would be the same as the front one) and swop them over, then clip into place to stop them from moving. Bob thought to himself, why not put front axles on the back of his truck, but make them so he could steer with them, as well, hence four wheel steering.
BIGFOOT 1 made it's first car crush in 1981, It's first car crush in front of a crowd was in 1982 at Jefferson City,MO. but it's first paid apperance (not a car crush ) was three years before hand, in 1979.
BIGFOOT 1 was often used for hill climbing as it was one of the lighter trucks. The hills would be up 270 feet high, and at 70 degree angles.
BIGFOOT 1 is the only BIGFOOT monster truck of the fleet to still have it's original look, all of the other trucks have newer, Ford F-series fibreglass bodies, with the stripes down the side. (except for no.5, which doesn't have the stripes)
The truck doesn't have any of it's original body or frame though. The frame was first replaced in 1979, as it got bent in making the film, 'Take this job & shove it.
