U.S. TRUCK FEST 97
Sunday 15th June 1997 At
the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte North Carolina,
USA
Sunday saw the last day of monster truck racing, at the Charlotte Motor
Speedway. For many drivers the mornings before the races where spent cleaning
& polishing their truck, for that days action. The sunday morning was
a very special experience for me, as I got to go out on to the monster
truck course to take photo's of the Overkill & Bear Foot trucks, while
they where parked in the infield on top of some crushed cars. Kirk Dabney
& Fred Shafer also allowed me to climb up inside their trucks &
have a sit in the drivers seat.
Racing on the sunday started
in the morning, with the Challenge trucks going head to head. The Liquidator
truck, which won the challange class on the saturday night, was moved up
into the Championship class, as there was a space left, after Eric Meager,
crashed the Snakebite truck, on the friday night.

The Little Tiger won the second days race in the Challenge class. The
truck made it to finals both days, so keep an eye on this truck, as it
seems to be an up & coming truck!

Sundays Championship class saw BIGFOOT take the win against Monster
Patrol, who had made it in to the finals on all three days.
Sunday also saw the demolition of the King Krunch truck, driven
by Scott Stevens. Scott was reported to be ok, even though he was
taken to hospital. Sunday was also the day we saw the grass ruined
by trucks doing donuts !! The racing ended in the late afternoon,
which proceeded with the presentations to the winners of the the
different motor sporting activities, being held at the Truck Fest.
Back in the pits all of the monster truck teams where preparing
their trucks ready to make there journey home.
