INFORMATION : The Devils Dodge truck is owned by Larry Birch, who also makes the Remote kill switches, which are fitted in Monster Trucks, as part of his Communications business.
Larry has been involved in the sport for over 10 years. He started out
racing Go-Karts, & was New Jersey State Champion in 1980 & 1981.
He then started building Street Rods, & currently owns a 1930
Model A Coupe, which he built.
And as his wife says "It goes like a bat out of hell".
Larry started attending Monster Truck shows with Mike Wales &
Bob Fisher, who where both already involved in the Monster Truck sport
& Street Rods. He then decided to build the Devils Dodge Monster Truck
in the summer of 1991 & finished it in the Summer of 1992. It had a
1992 Dodge Body with 5 ton military axles & leaf spring suspension..
Gary Brukler drove the truck for about a year & then handed
over to Larry, who drove it for a year. John Seasock (Sudden Impact) then
drove the truck for nearly 3 years. Larry had a couple of other drivers
drive the truck, including Frank Fonte (Crew Chief of the Thrasher Monster
Truck) who drove the old truck. Larry leaves the racing to the younger guys & just watches from the sidelines.
Over the years the truck first truck had many changes made to it, including newer
suspension, axles & in February 1999, the truck had a new 1999 Dodge
Dakota Sport Extended cab body on it.
The old truck also ran as the Undertaker for about 3 months, as part of sponsorship
deal, but Larry decided that there was more demand for the truck as the
Devils Dodge.
On the 5th September 1999 the original Devils Dodge Monster truck was sold to Bill Johnson, of Wall Twp, NJ. He now runs the truck under a new name.
In 2000, Larry had a new Garage built at his home, so he could start work on building a new Devils Dodge Monster Truck. The Garage can accomadate, the Devils Dodge Hauler & room for two Monster Trucks.
Larry started building a new Patrick Chassis Devils Dodge truck, which was starting to coming along slowly.
But after a serious car wreck in 2000, in which a tractor trailer ran into his Suburban, leaving him in criticle
condition, many broken bones, & even some short term memory loss. This meant he was unable to work on the truck for over a year .
Well in the past few months Larry has started back working on his truck with the help of his fabricator/welder Eric, the truck is starting to come together
